I recently had to peel a pie pumpkin to make pumpkin orange chutney,The recipe was easy to make but it took forever to peel the pumpkin even though I cut it into wedges.

Cut up pieces of the pumpkin, put in shallow pan, cover. Bake at 325 until tender. Scoop it out.

If the pumpkin has to be cooked the best way to do it is to hack it up into sections, remove the seeds, bake in a large baking dish or roaster in about 2 inches of water in the oven at 350 degrees. Once a fork easily pierces the skin remove the pan from the oven and allow to cool. Then just peel the skin right off the pumpkin when it is cooled.

Cut it into wedges like the sections of an orange . Be sure to make them thin , not more than an inch or an inch and a half, at the widest part . It’s easy to slice the meat off the rind when you do this .

the best way to peel it is roast it first then take the peel off.
