Look for the old recipe on the internet for conk. This is a horrid concoction made with potatoes and lye. It will straighten anyones hair, but may cause a little burning as well, if you’re not careful.

i’ve had a helen of troy for about a year now and i use it almost every day, i got it for about $30 at sally’s, it has different temperatures and the one i have is about 2 or 3 inches wide. maybe your familiar with that store but if your not helen of troy is pretty known so you shouldnt have a problem finding one at any beauty store. so far so good i havent had any problems with mine, i have even left it on for a day a couple different times and it doesnt burn out compared to my previous one. hope this helps.. im love my straightener.
