Red eyes…?
Posted in Optical by: adminJanuary 13th, 2008
For the past 5 days or so my eyes have been really red.
First it started off with my right eye with green/clear ooze and redness and waking up with it crusty and closed. Then yesterday my left eye started stinging and they both were really red and I had tears in them (I wasn’t crying) and my eyes were both stinging like they had something in them. I wear contacts and I took them out and it still hurt.
I don’t have any problem with vision and I don’t have any more eye mucus but it hurts to open them in the sunlight and they are still stinging.
I have some congestion and a bad headache.
Anyone know what in the world could be wrong with me?
Thank you! ![]()
I also have a fever.

Do you take your contacs out at night? that could be your first problem…also try changing contac solution, seeing as some of them cause an infection in the eye, which you probobly have…i would suggest wearing glasses for the next couple of days see if it clears up, if it doesn’t go see your eye doctor for some specialized drops.

it must be sore eyes. just drink a lot of water or juice and have a lot of rest.
hope this helps.
going to the doctor can also help.

pink eye. you can get medication for it from the doctor, sometimes it goes away by itself. don’t wear contacts and it is contagious so you might want to consider staying away from people

Pink eye is a possibility.
But I have a similar problem. It is dry eyes from using the computer. If I stop and even stop reading for several days, they begin to clear up. I’ve learned to look away from the screen often and deliberately blink often. Helps a little.

You may have pink eye, but I would definetly get yourself to the dr. I lost sight in one eye as a child, that started with similar symptoms that you are describing.
You may also have allergies to things in your home. I recently discovered I am allergic to my cat (that I have had for 15+ years). Some mornings I wake up with itchy eyes.
Finally, I would not recommend sleeping with contact lenses in - even the ones that proclaim that you can sleep in them…. it’s just not safe for your eyes to have plastic on them 24 hours a day, just so you can wake up to see.

Those sound like the symptoms of conjunctivitus(pink eye). Everyone’s right, you must see an opthamologist — optometrists can’t write prescriptions. Pink eye is HIGHLY contagious, you must wash your hands thoroughly if you touch anywhere near your eyes, don’t handle shared objects, and wash your hands if you touch anywhere near your eyes.
When you get the eye drops make sure you take them properly and for one or two days after it clears up.

it started as a pink eye which is a bacterial infection of the conjunctiva , then it involved the cornea , which is dangerous .
here is what you have to do : take of the contacts , rinse your eyes and remove all the secretions , take the contacts and go immediately to an eye doctor , every hour counts , please go once you read this post .
