banana peel for guinea pig?

i love to eat babana and i always share it to my guinea pig (marcus), but i find him weird cz intead of eating the banana fruit, he would jump on my lap then get the banana peel off my hands and eat it… and i tell you, he enjoys it!
is the banana peel harmful for him?
is the banana peel ok for his daily consumption?
either it has vit c or not, would it be okei since i put ascorbic acid in his water?
