I think if he eats it, he knows its not harmful for him…

I’m not a hundered percent sure, but I don’t think banana peels are harfull. I know that you aren’t supposed to give small animals like that lettuce because it sticks in there mouth and can kill them, but I think anything else is okay. They are constantly growing their teeth and the peel gives him more of a challenge. You could try giving him harder things like apples and carrots. Give him a block to chew on also.

The thing your guinea pig is eating isn’t the ‘peel’ but the ‘pith’ between the peel and the banana. He likes this because it’s not quite as sweet or as ’squishy’ as the banana itself. Since you say that he’s ‘jumping into your lap’ to eat this off your fingers, I’d say there is NO WAY he can be getting ‘too much’ of something that could hurt him. As long as he eats his ‘regular food’ and is active (and jumping into your lap is active) then he’s fine. And did you know that when breeders put ‘banana’ pieces into the cages, they just cut them in the peel and throw the pieces in peel and all, and the guinea pigs LOVE that … so there’s NOTHING to ‘harm’ your guinea pig in that little bit of pith he’s getting.

No, it will not hurt your piggie, but limit fruits to occasional treats. They also like watermelon rinds.

It is not necessary to put Vitamin drops in your pig’s water. Not only are they a waste of your money, but they degrade within minutes of putting them in the water due to the light and chlorine, rendering them useless to the pig. The pet store is just trying to make money by selling them to unsuspecting or new pig owners.

As long as you are feeding your pig guinea pig pellets (not rabbit!) that are fortified with Vit. C and fresh green veggies, you should not need to use these drops. Studies have found that the pigs really do not like the way they make the water taste & the pigs will incidentally drink less water than they should because of it.

No, it wont hurt Mr. Marcus.
    Fruits are good for them.
But not too much fruit. It stores lots of water and other things. They are a good treat for the piggers. So are straw berries, their leaves, the green, skin like part of the watermelon, and grapes.
I wouldn’t go through in the whole peel Everyday.
Little peices, when he does something good, is ok though.
